What is toddler swimming?
We introduce swimming lessons at 3 years old into our Ducklings classes.
Learning through fun and challenging activities: We use all sorts of equipment in the pool so children don’t even realise the skills they are learning, they’re too busy having fun!
Promoting an environment of success and praise: We believe in teaching through positive reinforcement.
Teaching them to wait their turn and listen to instructions: As many of our teachers are parents, we know how to be fun and kind – but firm!
Independence and water safety through structure and repetition: We teach a safe and healthy respect for the water by introducing safety skills early on. Jumping in, holding on, waiting for permission to enter the pool…all these are taught and more!
Consolidating balance work and the beginning of stroke acquisition: We use a range of techniques and floatation devices to build children’s strength and balance.

Our swimming school has met the stringent requirements set by the following.
Learn to Swim Pathway – Toddler swimming lessons
- Giving children confidence from the word go
- Teaching the core skills need to learn the four strokes through fun and games.
The Swim England Learn to Swim Pathway is the national syllabus used to help teachers deliver swimming lessons. It ensures swimming lessons for all ages are delivered to a high and consistent standard. The all-inclusive programme takes non-swimmers on a journey through four specialised Frameworks. These start with the basics of learning to swim and end with advanced skills for sports such as water polo or diving.
All the Swim England Learn to Swim Pathway Frameworks are linked with their awards and badges scheme. These are used to reward children and adults when they are learning to swim. Each Framework has stages and each stage successfully completed in a Framework comes with a certificate and/or badge as a reward.
